Why go
Famous since the Middle Ages for its glazed pottery in yellow, green, and blue with childlike, stylized designs, every surface in Vietri tells a story in clay: building facades, street signs, church domes. The 1954 flood reshaped the coastline here, creating new sandy beaches. With the coast's only train station access (via Salerno, 5 min away) and highway exit, it's the most accessible town — and one of the most popular with Italian beachgoers.

Church of San Giovanni Battista
18th century church with a splendid majolica dome that glows in the sunlight — Vietri's most photographed landmark.

At Villa Guariglia in Raito. Centuries of ceramic history with panoramic views. Raito also offers pottery workshops for visitors.
La Baia Beach
400m of sand, very sunny, easy to reach — the favorite family beach. One of the few wide, accessible beaches on the coast.
La Crespella
A quieter private beach under a 16th century tower, facing the 'Due Fratelli' sea stacks — atmospheric and less crowded.
Albori
A hill fraction above Vietri considered one of Italy's most beautiful villages. Connected to the marina by ancient stairways and paths.

By car: 15 min (highway exit nearby). By bus: 30 min. Closest to Salerno train station (5 min) — the most accessible town on the coast.
